Kolkata: A youth was hacked to death at Liluah bridge on Wednesday.It is alleged that a few days ago, the youth got involved in a scuffle after water splashed on a few persons while he was riding his bike. According to sources, a few days ago, the youth identified as Chandan Singh (20) a resident of Potuapara in Liluah was riding his bike in front of Liluah Rail Colony. Hearing the abusive words, he got down from his bike and an altercation ensued between the youths and Singh. Local residents informed that Singh tried to explain that he did not splash water on them intentionally. It happened accidentally he said but the accused youths refused to accept his explanation. All of a sudden they started attacking Singh. Seeing them got involved in a scuffle, some local residents intervened and the fight was stopped. It is also alleged that the accused youths threatened Singh with dire consequences. On Wednesday afternoon, Singh was called by the accused persons at Liluah bridge to end the dispute. When he arrived there accused youth again hurled expletives and sought for an apology. When Singh refused to apologise, accused youths started beating him. He even tried to escape but failed. Accused youths chased him and started beating him. While Singh was getting beaten up, one of them stabbed him. When Singh hit the ground, accused youths fled from the spot. Local residents rushed Singh to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been lodged at Liluah police station. Till Wednesday night none has been arrested.
