Las Vegas Pizzeria Offers ‘Grasshopper Pie’ Amid Insect Inva…Domino’s Brings Autonomous Pizza Delivery to Houston Stay on target ‘Tis the season to order Domino’s Pizza and have it delivered to you via reindeer. Fa-la-la-la, la-la-la-really-inconvenient. That’s exactly what’s going on with Domino’s Japan this year, as reindeer are being specially trained in the country to roll out pizza this winter to hungry customers. The company was looking for a way to deliver pizza in snowy weather rather than relying on a bike, and ’tis the season, especially with the Santa Claus connection. Right now there’s a test period going on in northern Japan’s Hokkaido, specifically the city of Ishikari, where animal trainers are working with reindeer at a driving school to make sure the reindeer are up for the task. What does the reindeer training involve specifically? You can check out the video for a little more in-depth information on that, but I imagine it involves a whole lot of a reindeer’s favorite treats on offer. And just like the Domino’s Pizza Tracker app we use in the States, the reindeer-powered pizza delivery sleighs will also utilize the same GPS Driver Tracker so customers can watch for Rudolph to come barreling down the road with their piping-hot pizza. You can even see the app in the video below. The icons on the app itself will also change to little reindeer icons in December. It doesn’t seem like a particularly practical idea for pizza delivery, and you’d think if conditions were that bad out on the roads it’d be a little dangerous for reindeer as well, but at the very least it’s a novel idea for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit in the city. In any case, it’s still a better promotion than when local newscasters in America “track” Santa Claus as he “flies across the country.” This has a purpose, and it’s to bring you delicious, cheesy, pepperoni-laden pizza. And whether it reaches you by bike, car, or reindeer it’s going to be delicious.
